LangoDeals ("we", "our", "us") is a classified ads marketplace for the Lira and Lango region of Uganda, operated by Hakateq Solutions Limited. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website and mobile app.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account or post an ad, we collect:

  • Account information — name, email address, phone number, password (encrypted)
  • Profile information — location, WhatsApp number (optional)
  • Listing data — ad titles, descriptions, prices, photos you upload
  • Messages — conversations between buyers and sellers on the platform
  • Payment information — mobile money phone number (for paid listings and promotions). We do not store mobile money PINs or account balances
  • Device information — device type, operating system, and FCM token for push notifications

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account
  • To display your ads to potential buyers
  • To enable messaging between buyers and sellers
  • To send email notifications (verification, password resets, new messages, listing updates)
  • To send push notifications about your listings and messages
  • To process payments for extra listings and ad promotions
  • To prevent fraud and enforce our terms

3. Information Shared with Others

When you post an ad, the following is publicly visible:

  • Your name, location, and verification status
  • Your phone number and WhatsApp (if provided on the listing)
  • Your ad content (title, description, price, photos)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third-party advertisers or data brokers.

We may share data with:

  • Payment providers (MTN MoMo, Airtel Money) — only the phone number and amount needed to process your payment
  • Email service — your email address to deliver transactional emails
  • Law enforcement — if required by law or to protect against fraud

4. Data Security

  • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
  • API authentication uses secure tokens
  • All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS
  • We limit access to personal data to authorized personnel only

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

  • Your profile, listings, listing images, messages, and saved ads are permanently deleted
  • Seller reviews you gave or received are deleted
  • This process is irreversible

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data via your account profile
  • Update your information at any time from the app or website
  • Delete your account and all associated data — from the app (Account → Delete Account) or from this page

7. Children's Privacy

LangoDeals is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of LangoDeals after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
